Comping

Comping can be defined as a concept whereby a pianist backs up a singer or any other lead instrument. Before any musician can start to 'comp', he or she must have gone through series of chordal and scale trainings. You can't comp effectively until you have a broad understanding of how movements, chords and chord changes work. Now practice what I taught.
